Nesbitt and Sterling score in shootout as Rivermen down Heat

Derek Nesbitt and Brett Sterling scored in the shootout Tuesday as the Peoria Rivermen defeated the Abbotsford Heat 4-3 in the American Hockey League. Phil McRae, Adam Cracknell and Brennan Evans had the goals in regulation for Peoria (29-22-3), while Nesbitt picked up two assists. Ben Bishop stopped 31 shots to get the win. Tyler Maxwell and Martin Gernat scored in the shootout Monday as the Edmonton Oil Kings downed the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-4 in the Western Hockey League. Mark Pysyk had a goal and two assists for Edmonton (39-14-7), while Dylan Wruck and T.J. Foster each scored and added an assist. Full Story.

Jerry D'Amigo scored twice, including his first goal in 10 games, to lift the Toronto Marlies to a 4-1 win over the Lake Erie Monsters in an AHL matinee Monday. Greg Scott and Ryan Hamilton had the other goals for the Marlies (30-18-4-2) while Peter MacArthur scored for the Monsters (26-24-2-2). Full Story.
