Mika Zibanejad scored in overtime to give Sweden their first gold medal at the World Junior Hockey Championship since 1981 with a 1-0 win over Russia. The score remained knotted at 0-0 through three periods despite Sweden badly outshooting Russia in regulation. Full Story.
Petr Mrazek made 29 saves as the Czech Republic beat Slovakia 5-2 in the fifth-place game at the world junior hockey championship Wednesday. Petr Holik, Tomas Filippi, Dominik Uher, Vojtech Mozik and Radek Faksa each scored for the Czechs, who bowed out of medal contention in the quarter-finals against Russia. Full Story.
